About OpenSourceTrade

A United Community of Indian Manufacturers

OpenSourceTrade isn't a traditional export company—it's a manufacturer community that came together to compete globally as one unified force.

We're manufacturers across India (agro exporters in Jodhpur, handicraft artisans, textile makers, aluminum craftsmen) who realized: alone, we're price-takers. United, we set the market.

How it works: Buyers submit RFQs. We circulate them within our community. The manufacturer who can fulfill exact requirements at the best price wins. We hunt for market dips (monitoring mandis daily) to bid at lowest costs.

Commission-only model: We only earn 2-5% on successful exports. Full advance payments secure production. Open book accounting means you see every cost.

Referral rewards: Anyone with a buyer can refer deals and earn commissions. We export with complete transparency and share the success.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about our community-driven export model

Community Model

We are a network of Indian manufacturers (Agro exporters, handicraft makers, textile producers, etc.) who united to export collectively. Instead of competing against each other, we share buyer RFQs within the community, and the manufacturer who can best fulfill requirements wins the order. This gives buyers access to multiple suppliers bidding competitively for lowest prices.
Critical difference: Those are listing platforms—you search and contact individual suppliers. We're a unified community that works as one exporter. You submit ONE RFQ, and our entire manufacturer network competes internally to give you the best price. You deal with OpenSourceTrade, not dozens of random suppliers.
Our community includes:
• Agro/spice exporters (Jodhpur, Unjha mandis)
• Aluminum handicraft artisans (Jodhpur)
• Wooden furniture makers (Rajasthan, UP)
• Textile producers (Panipat, Surat)
• Blue pottery & ceramic artists
• Leather goods manufacturers

All are vetted producers with export capabilities. We grow the network as we expand into new product categories.
Yes and no. You work with OpenSourceTrade as the unified entity—we coordinate RFQs, pricing, quality, and exports. However, we practice open book transparency, meaning we share which manufacturer is producing for you, their invoices, and contact details. No secrets. Think of us as the community coordinator, not a middleman hiding suppliers.

Pricing & Commission

Transparency and alignment. Traditional exporters hide their procurement costs and add 15-40% markup—you never know the real price. We charge a small commission (2-5%) on total export value and show you all costs:
• Producer invoice
• Packaging & inspection
• Freight & documentation
• Our commission

This way, you see exactly where your money goes, and we only earn when you succeed.
Typical range: 2-5% of FOB value.

Examples:
• Simple bulk order (Agro, 20MT): 2-3%
• Handicrafts with custom specs: 3-4%
• Small pilot orders or complex items: 4-5%

Commission is agreed upfront and shown in quotes. No hidden fees—what you see is what you pay.
No subscriptions. Commission only.

For manufacturers: Free to join community. We only take a small commission from successful orders.

For buyers: No membership fees, no platform charges. You only pay for products + our commission on orders you place.

This keeps barriers low and incentivizes us to deliver quality orders.
For large or repeat orders, yes. If you're ordering containers regularly (e.g., monthly Agro shipments), we can discuss volume-based commission reductions (as low as 1.5-2%). Contact us with your requirements and order frequency for custom pricing.

Market Dip Bidding

Strategic timing to get lowest prices. Commodity prices (especially agro products like Agro) fluctuate daily in mandis (wholesale markets). Instead of buying immediately, we:
1. Monitor market prices in real-time (e.g., Unjha mandi for Agro)
2. Set target buy prices based on your budget
3. Bid when prices dip (seasonal lows, supply surges)
4. Secure your order at 10-30% below average prices

This is possible because we're community-based—we have local presence in key markets and can move fast.
Depends on urgency vs. savings:
Immediate need: We buy at current market rate (0-7 days)
Flexible timing: We wait for dip (2-4 weeks typical)
Maximum savings: Seasonal low bidding (1-3 months)

You choose the strategy. Most buyers opt for 2-4 week windows to balance savings with delivery timelines.
Best for commodities with volatile pricing:
• Spices (Agro, turmeric, coriander)
• Pulses & grains
• Cotton & raw textiles
• Base metals (aluminum, brass)

Less effective for:
• Custom handicrafts (price fixed by artisan labor)
• Fashion/seasonal items

We'll advise if your product benefits from dip bidding during RFQ discussion.
Flexible options:

Option 1 (Standard): You approve target price → Pay 100% advance → We bid at or below target → Purchase & export

Option 2 (Conservative): We monitor market for you → Alert you when price dips → You approve specific quote → Pay & we purchase

Either way, you control the buy decision. We never purchase without your approval.

Joining Community

Simple 3-step process:
1. Apply via WhatsApp: Share product category, capacity, location
2. Verification: We verify business registration, product samples, past export experience (if any)
3. Onboarding: Added to RFQ circulation group

Requirements:
• GST registered business
• Minimum production capacity (varies by product)
• Quality commitment
• No fees to join—commission only on orders you win
Both!

Compete: When an RFQ comes in, manufacturers bid competitively to win the order. Best price + quality wins.

Collaborate: For large orders, multiple manufacturers can co-produce (e.g., one handles production, another handles finishing). We also share market intelligence and export best practices.

The model encourages healthy competition for efficiency while maintaining community support.
Perfect! Join as a referral partner.

If you know someone who needs exports from India (Agro, handicrafts, textiles, etc.) but can't fulfill the order yourself:
1. Connect them with OpenSourceTrade
2. We handle RFQ, sourcing, export (open book)
3. You earn 5-10% commission on successful deals

Example: Your contact orders ₹10L Agro. You earn ₹50,000-₹100,000. No risk, no investment—just connections.
Varies by product category:
Spices/Commodities: 1 MT (1000 kg) minimum
Handicrafts: 50-100 pieces
Textiles: 500 meters / 100 garments
Furniture: Container load (20-40 pieces)

We encourage pilot orders for first-time buyers—start small, verify quality and transparency, then scale up.

Payment & Risk

We don't hold inventory—we source fresh for your exact specs. Indian manufacturers require payment to start production (especially custom orders). We use YOUR advance to:
1. Purchase raw materials from producers
2. Fund production
3. Arrange quality inspections
4. Handle export documentation

Protection for you:
• See manufacturer quotes BEFORE you pay
• Approve costs before we purchase
• Real-time invoices as we spend
• Photos/videos during production
Multi-layer protection:

1. Verified community: We only work with vetted manufacturers
2. Production monitoring: Daily updates during manufacturing
3. Quality gates: Inspection before shipment
4. Open book: You see which manufacturer is producing

If quality fails:
• Small issues: Manufacturer fixes at their cost
• Major defects: We refund our commission (producer costs already spent are non-refundable)

This is why we recommend pilot orders to build trust before large shipments.
For established buyers and container loads, yes. However, most manufacturers in our community (especially artisans and small-scale producers) don't work with LCs for:
• Orders under $10,000
• Custom/handicraft products
• Pilot orders

LC adds bank fees (1-3%) and delays. Bank wire with 100% advance is the standard for our model—faster and more transparent.
